Soup Kitchen in JerusalemNetivyah's soup kitchen is the first that followers of Yeshua opened in Israel. The biblical mandate is not only to preach the Good News with words, but to preach it with our lives and with the service that we provide for the community (Matthew 25: 35-36). When Netivyah started the soup kitchen, they were feeding about 20 homeless Jews from Russia, and several old and poor indigent brothers and sisters in Yeshua. Now Netivyah is feeding more than 60 people with food each day. We are also giving another 30 packages of dry goods to people every week (these are people who don't want the cooked food, but they need the help). A total of more than 2,000 meals per month are provided to needy people who are unable to take care of themselves and cook hot food with a balanced diet. We are feeding the poor of Jerusalem. Who knows, perhaps Yeshua is one of those who come wearing raggedy clothes, hungry and dirty, sleeping on the streets of Jerusalem and in the park. Perhaps he comes to test us to see if we would feed him when he looks like a beggar. Perhaps he is testing our faith when we have to ask God each month for a miracle to provide the means so that we wouldn't have to turn some hungry soul away because we don't have enough food. Keep the poor of Jerusalem in your prayers and remember the cause for which Paul the Apostle of Yeshua traveled, wrote letters, and gave his life: to collect funds for the "poor of Jerusalem". Joseph Shulam Hope for Israel donated the funds for an entirely new kitchen, complete with new appliances (see pictures). We will continue to be a part of feeding those who are in need in Jerusalem. view photos »
