Hope for Israel Intercessors Letter No. 107
May 1, 2008 Issue
So I prophesized as I was commanded . . . and the bones came together, bone to bone. Indeed, as I looked, the sinews and the flesh came upon them, and the skin covered them over; but there was no breath in them. Also He said to me, "Prophesy to the breath, prophesy, son of man, and say to the breath, 'Thus says the LORD GOD: "Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe on these slain, that they may live.'"
~Ezekiel 37:7-9
Dear Prayer Partners,
HOLOCAST REMEMBRANCE DAY AND DAY OF INDEPENDENCE: Today at 10:00 am, sirens will sound all throughout the country during which everyone in the country will stand for two minutes of silence to remember the six million Jews that were murdered in the Holocaust. In 1948, just three years after the end of the Holocaust and WWII, David Ben-Gurion declared Israel's independence in the land allotted the Jewish settlement by the UN; within just eight months of fighting, Israel defeated the five Arab armies that had attacked. Next week, on May 8th, all Israel will celebrate that victory and commemorate 60 years for the land of Israel. As we meditate on the unutterable suffering of the Holocaust and the miraculous establishment of Israel as a state just three years later, it is impossible not to see it as the incredible fulfillment of the prophesies in Ezekiel 37 of the valley of dry bones. Out of the ashes of death of the Holocaust, the Lord very literally fulfilled His Word by bringing about the physical restoration of the nation of Israel prophesized in Ezekiel 37: 7-9. The Lord has promised the people of Israel first a physical restoration and then a spiritual one. As we celebrate Israel's Independence Day as the fulfillment of God's promise to physically restore Israel, we ask that you all would stand with us as we plead with the Lord to remember His promises to bring spiritual salvation to His people!
OPERATION RESTORATION: We have just recently received a request from another Jewish community along the border with the Gaza strip to retro-fit their cultural center as a bomb shelter. Also, we are still short of critical funds to finish a project we began in the North to help rebuild a business after it was destroyed in the 2006 war with Hezbollah. We ask that you would agree with us in prayer that God would provide all the necessary funds to complete these humanitarian projects here in Israel which are such a powerful witness to His name.
ORTIZ FAMILY: Due to God's awesome grace and the generous outpouring of prayer, Ami Ortiz has experienced miraculous healing. Though he has come a long way in his healing and recovery process, there is still a long, painful road ahead of him. Please pray:
1. That Ami's wounds would continue to heal quickly. We praise God that almost all his open wounds have healed. His burns are still in the process of healing; please pray against pain and infection associated with burns and for complete healing.
2. For a miraculous healing in Ami's hands as they were seriously damaged in the explosion.
3. That Ami's physical therapy would produce amazing results and that there would be a miracle of NO PAIN during his physical therapy sessions.
4. Lastly, that the Lord would speak to Ami and those around him to give him peace in understanding why this happened. Ami is struggling right now about why God allowed this to happen to him. Please pray that the Lord would draw Ami closer to Himself, bind up the wounds in Ami's heart, and impart to him the great blessings Yeshuah promises to those who share in His suffering.
MINISTRY NEEDS: Office space, an office manager, and a ministry partner for Moran here in Israel continue to be basic needs to meet the growing demands of the ministry work here in Israel (which is indeed a blessing!). Until the Lord answers those needs, we ask that you continue to pray that God will bring us exactly the right people to come alongside us and open up the right place for our ministry offices.
PERSONAL NEEDS: In May, Moran will again be traveling in America and, in June, he will be leading another tour in Israel. We ask that you continue to pray that He would open new doors for the ministry and that the He would protect Moran from the hardships of constant travel. Please also keep Melissa and the children in prayer as this is the third time that Moran has been away for an extended period since the beginning of the year.
HFI MEDIA: Our next newsletter featuring a special edition on Israel's 60th year of Independence will be out in May. Please pray that the Lord will use this newsletter to give more people a biblical vision and heart for Israel. Also, we are currently working on a new ministry brochure and a promotional DVD. Please pray that the Lord would guide and inspire our Media staff in all they do and that the Spirit of Truth and Revelation would be upon them and the fruit of their labors.
THE DEVALUING DOLLAR: In the last year, the dollar has been in a free-fall and is increasingly weaker against foreign currencies. The Shekel, on the other hand, continues to remain strong against the dollar. For ministries in Israel whose major support comes from America, it means that they have 25% less income. As we find ourselves trying to meet ministry costs with almost a 25% loss in income (most of our support comes from the US), we ask you to pray that the Lord would open other doors of support for us. In the end, we know that all things and all the world's wealth are His, weak dollar or not, and we know that He will provide for us out of His bounty!
As always, we have many prayer requests. Please do not feel obliged to pray for each one of these requests. Pray as the Spirit leads you.
Thank you for partnering with us in prayer!
